The Mountain Gentian Liqueur of La Valdôtaine is a traditional alpine product, obtained by maceration in cooked wine of the dried root of gentian maggiore. The greater gentian is a plant that grows spontaneously on humid mountain soils over 1000 meters above sea level. Gentian root is known for its digestive qualities and a characteristic bitter taste of pleasant and long persistence. The result is a perfect liqueur at the end of a meal.
Ruby red to the eye, it is characterized on the nose by the typical elegantly bitter scent of gentian that blends with notes of ripe red fruits. A distinctive trait that also marks the tasting, balanced by alcohol and a delicate residual sugar.
